An etched foil element is the circuitry for these heaters. Heaters are thin, transparent, lightweight, flexible and are dielectrically strong. Kapton®/Polyimide and other dielectric insulations are compatible with foil element alloys as inconel, nickel, copper, stainless steel and others. Dependent upon the dielectric insulation and other factors, etched foil heaters can have properties such as low outgassing, resistance to solvents and high thermal capabilities.
Thermoplastic, thermoset, and pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) systems are available for mounting the heater in an application.
Controlling and sensing devices can be incorporated directly to the heater element, wire harness or integral flex circuit.
Etched foil designs afford more heater sizes, shape opportunities and enhance the longevity potential. Supplemental heat distributing and thermal shielding sheet materials (such as aluminum and silicone sponge) are available. Thermoplastic, thermoset, heat curing, pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), and mechanical mounting methods are available.
